the dress up box
There’s something truly magical about a dress-up box. With just a few costumes and accessories, children can step into whole new worlds—pirates sailing stormy seas, queens ruling faraway kingdoms, superheroes saving the day, or performers dazzling on stage. A dress-up box never really grows old; it erases boredom with creativity and opens endless doors to storytelling.
It’s also a wonderful thing to have ready when friends come over. Add some music, maybe a few playful lights, and suddenly the living room transforms—one moment it’s a catwalk for a fashion show, the next it’s a theatre buzzing with a full-on performance. These little moments of imaginative play bring children together and create memories that last.
What’s really groovy about a dress-up box is how it never tells you what to play—it simply gives you the tools and lets imagination run the show. A sparkly hat can become a crown, a cape can turn into wings, and a pair of sunglasses suddenly makes you the coolest rock star on the block. It’s awesome to see how kids mix and match pieces, invent new characters on the spot, and lose themselves in play that feels completely their own.
I’m excited to share that at our upcoming LaouLaou event in our neighbourhood, I’ll be offering a special dress-up box for children to explore. It will be a space where characters come to life, stories unfold, and creativity takes center stage.
